The Kalamassery police have booked five unidentified people for allegedly assaulting controversial YouTuber Aju Alex, 44, who is known by his social media name ‘Chekuthan’.
The police registered the case on a complaint filed by Mr. Alex, a native of Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta, following an alleged incident that took place on Thursday (July 16, 2026) night. According to the first information report (FIR), the accused, who identified themselves as ‘fans of Mohanlal’, roughed up the complainant when he was coming out of a wayside eatery at Edappally Toll Junction along with a friend. They allegedly attacked the YouTuber for doing videos targeting the actor.
The main accused also allegedly intimidated Mr. Alex when he was seeking treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital, Ernakulam, after being injured in the initial attack.
The accused have been charged with unlawful assembly, wrongful restraint, causing hurt, and criminal intimidation under relevant Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police sources said the accused were yet to be arrested.
