The Nagaland Police on Friday (July 17, 2026) announced a cash reward of ₹50,000 for credible information leading to the identification and arrest of those behind the July 13 bomb attack that killed an Assam Rifles havildar and critically injured four others.
Chümoukedima falls under the jurisdiction of the Police Commissionerate in the adjoining Dimapur district.
In a public notice, Commissioner of Police Aotula T. Imchen said a team was conducting an intensive investigation into the blast—suspected to have been caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) at Khopanullah under Chümoukedima ‘A’ village—to identify and catch all those involved in the “heinous terrorist act”.
The notice said the reward would be given for information leading to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators or their associates, as well as those involved in planning, financing, harbouring, transporting or otherwise facilitating the offence.
The police also appealed for information to help recover explosives, explosive components, weapons, communication devices, vehicles, or any other incriminating material linked to the case, apart from identifying hideouts, safe houses, or logistical support networks used by the offenders.
A day after the incident, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) said it would “make every effort through all available and appropriate means” to identify those behind the IED blast that targeted an Assam Rifles convoy.
The site of the blast is not far from Camp Hebron, the NSCN’s military and administrative headquarters.
The suspected IED blast killed Havildar Mohammed Iqbal, who was posted with the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School at Sukhovi in Chümoukedima district. He hailed from the Kallar Mohra village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
