A special registration campaign for MY Bharat portal, which empowers youth with career opportunities, skill development and volunteer programmes, has been launched in Mysuru.

The Government of India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has sought to provide new opportunities to the youth of the country through its MY Bharat portal.

Through the portal, young people aged between 15 and 29 can access employment opportunities, skill development programmes and internships free of cost, said Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya while presiding over the MY Bharat special registration campaign held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mysuru on Tuesday (July 14).

She said opportunities were available for internships in various government departments, enabling students to gain experience in industry or government organisations while pursuing their studies. Special programmes would also be organised to provide students with training and professional skills.

National-level camps would be organised free of cost for youth across the country. The government has set a target of registering five crore young people on the portal nationwide, with each district given a target of registering one lakh youth, she said.

The Education Department, NSS units and various colleges should encourage their students to register on the portal. Each department has been instructed to appoint a nodal officer and a student representative as a nodal ambassador to facilitate the registration process, she added.

Plans have also been drawn up to create awareness among young people through the Viksit Bharat Padyatra. The programme is aimed at educating youth about the lives of freedom fighters and various important national days. Awareness programmes on the harmful effects of drug abuse will also be organised with the participation of youth, college students and various youth organisations, she said.

A camp will be organised for 250 students selected from different States across the country to promote cultural exchange and national integration. One such programme is being organised in Mysuru this time. Various skill-training programmes will also be conducted to promote self-employment among rural youth, she said.

Programmes will be organised in coordination with various departments to create awareness about how Central and State government schemes can benefit young people. A platform will also be provided for talented sportspersons from locally registered youth clubs to showcase their abilities. The primary objective of the programme is to ensure that students directly benefit from government schemes and available facilities, she said.

MY Bharat District Youth Officer Akhil P., Deputy Director of Income and Commerce Saihad Nazeer Ahmed and Lead Bank Chief Manager Krishnamurthy were present, according to a press statement here.
