Vinod Kumar hails Centre for paraquat ban

HYDERABAD

Senior leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former MP B. Vinod Kumar welcomed the Centre’s decision to ban/prohibit the herbicide/insecticide (a weed killer) paraquat dichloride, which has already been banned or severely restricted in over 70 countries. In a statement, the BRS leader said on Tuesday that several people’s organisations and Indian Medical Association have been demanding imposition of ban on the import, manufacture, stock, transport, distribution and sale of paraquat dichloride. He stated that the State government had banned the insecticide a few months back.
