The engineers of Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) on Tuesday conducted wet run of one pump of the Narlapur pump house of the project successfully. The pump was switched on following the arrangement of power supply made after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to the project recently.

Arrangement of power supply on permanent basis became possible after the release of ₹160 crore required for the purpose and a plea made by Advisor to Government on Lift Irrigation projects. Two pumps of the Yedula pump-house were wet run successfully in September 2023.

Meanwhile, former minister and BRS leader S. Niranjan Reddy expressed joy at the successful wet run of the Narlapur pump and suggested the government to keep aside political vengeance and work for protecting the interests of farming community, particularly in a year impacted by the El Nino conditions. He requested the government to operate the pumps which were wet run already and fill linked reservoirs where there is flood in the Krishna.
