Telangana CM seeks Union Cabinet nod for starting RRR northern section works

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sought approval of the Union Cabinet for starting works on the northern section of the Regional Ring Road (RRR).

The Chief Minister, who called on Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday (July 14, 2026), said 95% of the land acquisition on the northern section was completed and hence the Centre should grant necessary clearances expeditiously. Commencement of works on the northern and southern sections of the ambitious RRR project simultaneously would ensure speedy completion besides saving money to the government.

Recalling the assurance of a greenfield highway between Hyderabad and Amaravati in the Reorganisation Act, the Chief Minister requested the Centre to accord permission for the project soon. In addition, early sanction of the proposed 12-lane expressway between the Bharat Future City and Machilipatnam Port via Amaravati would reduce the distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by 100 km besides enabling speed transport of goods.

He requested Mr. Gadkari’s help in securing Forest clearances to the proposed Mannanur-Srisailam elevated corridor which would cover the reserve forest of Nallamala, the Srisailam temple and waterfalls in the area. The Central Government was requested to sanction permission for a new six-lane highway between Hyderabad and Mancherial, proposed as an alternative to Rajiv Rahadari. The proposed alternative route gave scope for new opportunities in agriculture, business and other sectors.
