Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the ambitious scheme Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana for women in poll-bound Bihar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the State for the second time in the last 10 days on Friday (September 26, 2025).

He held meetings with party election observers and core committee members at the party’s State headquarters in Patna. Mr. Shah is on a two-day visit to Bihar to mull over poll preparedness and seat distribution among NDA allies for the upcoming Assembly election, which are likely to be held in October-November later this year.

Earlier, Mr. Modi had kicked off the scheme for women of Bihar Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in which ₹10,000 was transferred to the account of 75 lakh women of the State. Bihar has a population of 4 crore women and over 1 crore have registered for the scheme.

Later, Wayanad Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi addressed a group of women at the party’s State headquarters Sadaqat Ashram in Patna and later addressing a public meeting at Motihari in East Champaran district where she announced that if the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) government would be formed in the State, landless families would be provided free land with “ownership of woman in the family”.

Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Mr. Shah reached Patna on Friday (September 26, 2025) evening and held a meeting with a team of poll observers of the party first and also with the party’s State core committee members to mull over poll preparedness and also on the seat distribution among ruling NDA allies in the State.

Earlier, the party had appointed 40-observers from 11-other states to get feedback on the upcoming elections in Bihar. The newly appointed in-charge of the party for the state Dharmendra Pradhan, two co-incharges, Union Minister C.R. Patil and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Kehav Prasad Maurya and party’s nation general secretary (organisation) B.L. Santosh were also present in the meetings. Mr. Pradhan welcomed Mr. Shah at the party headquarters. The meeting went on till late on Friday (September 26, 2025) night.

On Saturday (September 27, 2025), Mr. Shah is scheduled to hold meetings with local party leaders of Samastipur and Araria. He is scheduled to hold meetings at Sarairanjan in Samastipur in which party leaders and local workers from Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur and Sheohar too would be present and later, in the day he is scheduled to visit Forbesganj in Araria district to hold meetings with local party leaders and grassroots workers from Saharsa, Purnea and Bhagalpur districts.

Earlier, Mr. Shah had visited the State for two days on September 17-18 to meet party leaders and local workers at Dehri-On-Sone (Sasaram) and Begusarai districts.

“With the visit of our party’s top leaders in the State a new energy, verve and enthusiasm is instilled among party leaders and workers in view of the upcoming Assembly election in the State,” said BJP State spokesperson Neeraj Kumar and workers gathered at the party State headquarters on Friday (September 26, 2025) to welcome Mr. Shah. They also shouted slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai when Mr. Shah reached the party office to hold the meeting.

Mr. Shah is also expected to meet Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his visit to finalise seat distribution among ruling NDA allies in the State. However, the schedule has not been officially fixed for the meeting between the two leaders.

Assembly elections in the State are likely to be held in the last week of October and November for which dates are likely to be announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) after October 6. “The whole election process has to end before November 22 in the State,” an ECI official in Patna told The Hindu over phone preferring anonymity.
