AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami sought to know whether Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay was prepared to declare that the Congress Ministers would be removed from the Tamil Nadu Cabinet if Karnataka failed to release Tamil Nadu’s rightful share of Cauvery water.

He condemned Karnataka’s Water Resources Minister Ramalinga Reddy’s statement that the Cauvery Water Management Authority had not ordered the release of water, and that Tamil Nadu had not requested its rightful share.

Condemning this, Palaniswami remarked, “The duty of the Cauvery Water Management Authority is to monitor whether the Karnataka government is properly implementing the orders of the Cauvery Tribunal. Concealing this and claiming that the Management Authority has not issued orders and that water cannot be given, as stated by Karnataka Water Resources Minister Mr. Ramalinga Reddy, is an absolute lie”.

He further demanded that the Karnataka government immediately implement the orders of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal and the Supreme Court. He also questioned whether the Chief Minister is ready to warn the Karnataka Congress party that ‘the Congress ministers will be removed from the Tamil Nadu Cabinet’ if the Karnataka government does not immediately release Tamil Nadu’s rightful share of the Cauvery water.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President Manickam Tagore has also demanded that the Karnataka government release the rightful share of water in the Cauvery. Pointing out that the Karnataka Water Resources Minister’s refusal to give water to Tamil Nadu is a direct contempt of the Supreme Court’s order, he stated that he urges the Karnataka government to follow the schedule specified by the Cauvery Water Management Board and release the water due to Tamil Nadu.
