Following the Disaster Management Authority’s instructions, labourers associated with the construction works on the Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi tunnel road project in Kozhikode district were relocated to a safer spot on Thursday (July 9, 2026).

Revenue department officials said the workers had been given temporary accommodation at a camp set up at St. Sebastian’s Lower primary School, near Muthappanpuzha. They said the shifting was part of the preventive evacuation measures recommended by the Kerala government in the wake of the Wayanad debris slip disaster.

The supervising team representing the tunnel-construction company clarified that they were not facing any safety threats at present and there was no cause for anxiety. They also said the construction works were temporarily halted in the area as a precautionary measure and to comply with the Kerala government’s latest safety instructions.
