Six killed, three injured in MUV-truck collision in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada

Six persons from Dharwad were killed and three others injured in an accident involving an MUV (Multi-Utility Vehicle) and a truck near Arabail Ghat of Yallapur taluk in Uttara Kannada district during the wee hours of Thursday (July 9, 2026).

All the deceased are from Dharwad and were on a trip to Dharmasthala and other places. They had left from Dharwad in an MUV on Wednesday (July 8) night.

The deceased have been identified as the driver Sanjay Angadi(33), Basavaraj (48), Abhishek Eshwar (28), Akshay ( 26), Abhishek(26), Manjunath Chulaki (32), all from Dharwad.

The injured Durgappa Madiwal, Channabasayya Sampagav and Sachin have been rushed to hospital and their condition is critical, sources said.

Yallapur police and Highway patrol personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital.

Due to the impact of the collision, the MUV has been crushed and the rescue personnel had a difficult time removing the bodies.
