At least two dead, eight injured in Navi Mumbai car accident

A car hit pedestrians in the Taloja area on Monday (July 6, 2026), killing two people and injuring eight others. The driver left the vehicle at the site and ran away. Police have started a search for the driver.

Police said the accident took place in Taloja Sector 10. The driver lost control of the car which was being driven at high speed. The car then hit people who were walking on the road and standing by the roadside.

Two people died on the spot. Local residents started rescue work after the accident. They took the injured to a nearby private hospital. Some of the injured are in the intensive care unit, hospital staff said.

Police reached the site after getting information about the incident, however, the driver had left the car at the site and rfled. Police have taken the car into custody.

Police have started an investigation into the accident. They have made a panchnama of the site. Police are looking into the speed of the vehicle, the driver’s negligence, and whether the driver had consumed alcohol.

A police officer said, “We will arrest the driver soon.”

The accident caused a traffic jam in the Taloja area for some time.
