A 76-year-old man was arrested by the Palluruthy police on Sunday (July 5) for allegedly sexually abusing a minor girl.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the mother of the girl. A case was registered by invoking provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused was produced before the court on Monday (July 6) and remanded in judicial custody.
Cyber crime
The Ernakulam rural cyber police have launched an investigation into a case registered on the complaint of a 26-year-old woman, who alleged that her photograph was misused by a matrimonial firm. According to the complainant, a photo she had posted on Instagram was modified and circulated in a WhatsApp group. Allegedly, false information and a contact number were also shared through the WhatsApp community.
Accident
A man was killed after his two-wheeler rammed into a metro pillar at Elamkulam on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sarath Sivakumar of Adoor, Pathanamthitta. An employee of an IT firm, he was returning home when the accident occurred. Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him brought dead.
