Taking serious note of the alleged procedural violations during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in different parts of the State, NDA leaders have decided to personally meet the Chief Electoral Officer on Monday to lodge a complaint.
The delegation of NDA leaders, who will meet the CEO, includes Union Ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy and Pralhad Joshi, Leaders of the Opposition R. Ashok and Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, and BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra. Such a decision was taken at a meeting of the BJP State Core Committee held in Bengaluru on Sunday.
The meeting took serious note of the alleged procedural violations in the ongoing SIR and felt that the party cadre had to aggressively take part in the campaign to create public awareness in this regard, according to Mr. Vijayendra.
He told media persons after the core committee meeting that they had decided to depute their members to different areas to monitor the campaign related to the ongoing SIR. The members will take up a tour of the areas allotted to them, he noted.
The meeting also decided to entrust the responsibility of co-ordinating with alliance partner JD(S) regarding formulating strategies to win the proposed by-election to the Hiriyur Assembly constituency to a team comprising Mr. Ashok, C. T. Ravi, MLC, and veteran leader Govind Karjol, he said.
Similarly, another team of leaders that had been constituted to monitor preparations for the elections to the Legislative Council for teachers’ and graduates’ constituencies, to be held in October, was told to begin their tour of the constituencies, he said.

Taking serious note of some of the party leaders embarrassing the party by publicly attacking their colleagues, the core committee has decided to put an end to such a trend by seeking an explanation from them by issuing notices, Mr. Vijayendra said.
It may be noted that the party had to face embarrassing moments in recent days as some of their leaders, including S. R. Vishwanath, MLA, made remarks against their party colleagues.
We will protest lawfully, wherever needed: CM
Responding to the Opposition’s criticism over the conduct of the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday said that they would stage protests lawfully wherever it was required.
Hitting back at the Opposition for criticising the SIR process in the State, he said that the job of the Opposition was to criticise. “On behalf of the government, we must ensure justice for everyone. We have appealed to everyone to protect their voting rights. We too have our own protest. Wherever we need to protest lawfully, we will protest.”
