Distribution of enumeration forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka crossed the halfway mark on Saturday (July 4). Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have so far distributed as many as 2.78 crore enumeration forms to electors across the State.
According to data released by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, 27,821,970 enumeration forms, accounting for 50.19% of the State’s 5,54,32,314 electors, had been distributed as of 6 p.m. on July 4. The month-long house-to-house enumeration and digitisation exercise, which began on June 30, will continue till July 29.
The Election Commission said 1,788,330 enumeration forms (3.23%) have been digitised so far, while 77,624 electors (0.14%) had submitted their forms online through the ECI portal.
100% distribution
The Commission also said that 6,352 polling stations (10.76%) had completed 100% distribution of enumeration forms, while 5,538 polling stations (9.38%) had achieved more than 90% distribution. On the digitisation front, two polling stations had completed 100% digitisation, while seven polling stations had crossed the 90% mark.
During the verification process, officials identified 13,859 deceased electors, 11,697 electors who had permanently shifted, 2,461 persons already enrolled elsewhere, and 433 untraceable or absent electors. Another 161 cases were categorised under “Others”, while 28,611 cases were marked under the ASDDO category for further verification.
Highest in Kalaburgi
At 14.57 lakh, Kalaburagi continued to record the highest number of enumeration forms distributed, followed by Belagavi (14.46 lakh), Tumakuru (14.35 lakh), Mysuru (12.32 lakh), Davanagere (11.63 lakh), Hassan (11.48 lakh), Vijayapura (11.23 lakh) and Chitradurga (11.11 lakh).
Raichur continued to lead the State in digitisation, with 1,86,198 enumeration forms digitised, followed by Haveri (1,29,015), Chitradurga (1,27,382), Hassan (1,16,445), Koppal (92,600), Belagavi (91,414) and Ballari (90,896).
Within Bengaluru, the three GBA election districts continued to report relatively lower progress in distribution compared to several districts. While the North division had distributed 5.12 lakh enumeration forms, the South saw distribution of 4.79 lakh forms. The Central division reported the distribution of 4.44 lakh forms while Bengaluru Urban district saw the distribution of 8.85 lakh forms.
The CEO’s office has reiterated that BLOs must strictly adhere to the ECI’s guidelines by undertaking house-to-house distribution of enumeration forms. The jurisdictional District Election Officers (DEOs) where allegations have been reported have been asked to explain by Monday, official sources said.
