The new building of a government school, in Kotyal village near Tikota in Vijayapura district of Karnataka, was built with corporate social responsibility donations. On July 3, the building was inaugurated by M. B. Patil, Minister for large and medium industries and district in-charge.

Mr. Patil said the well-equipped school building has been constructed with state-of-the-art technology at a total cost of ₹3.25 crore on an area of 7,000 square feet. Reconstruction of the old building of 800 square feet has also been completed.

Well-equipped rooms have been prepared for the convenience of students from classes 1 to 10. Separate rooms for a STEM Lab and ‘Nali-Kali’ activities have been built to encourage innovation and activity-based learning in children. The school has 135 sets of new furniture, a toilet block with 10 units for boys and girls, a modern kitchen room, and a spacious dining hall.

“Since Kotyal has got a well-equipped school, children need not go to Tikota for higher classes,” the Minister said.

The school has been built with Corporate Social Responsibility funding from Bangalore International Airport Limited. BIAL Managing Director and CEO Hari Murar, Chief Financial Officer Bhaskar Anandarao, land donors Kamala Murugesh Nirani, Anandarao Kulkarni, Anilkumar Patil, V.S. Patil, local representatives and village residents were among those who participated in the inauguration.
