The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) plans to privatise the operation and maintenance of six Padaipagam facilities in Zone 6 at an estimated cost of ₹1.42 crore.

The facilities are located at Jawahar Nagar, Jaganathan Street, Kanigapuram, Otteri, Mangalapuram, and Pulianthope in north Chennai.

The Jaganathan Street Padaipagam has been allocated ₹41.58 lakh. Operation and maintenance of each of the remaining five facilities has been estimated at ₹16.18 lakh.

The project also includes security arrangements at the Zone 6 Zonal Office at a cost of ₹19.97 lakh. It provides for deployment of three security personnel in three shifts every day for one year.

Each of the five Padaipagam facilities with an allocation of ₹16.18 lakh will have seven staff members — two receptionists, two sweepers, two security guards, and an electrician-cum-pump operator.

According to the project estimate, ₹4.97 lakh has been allocated for receptionists, ₹4.12 lakh for sweepers, ₹3.90 lakh for security guards and ₹3.17 lakh for the electrician-cum-pump operator at each of these centres.
