The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls had a steady start across Karnataka on Tuesday, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) distributing over 12.48 lakh enumeration forms during the first day of the month-long exercise.

According to the Election Commission, 12,48,314 forms, accounting for 2.25% of the State’s 5.54 crore electors, had been distributed by 4 p.m. A total of 47,817 forms (0.09%) had also been digitised, while 6,840 electors submitted their forms online through the ECINet platform.

The State has 5.54 crore electors as on June 16, and 91.61% of them have already been mapped for the house-to-house exercise, which will continue till July 29.

Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbu Kumar told The Hindu that the figures represented the status as of 4 p.m. and were expected to improve significantly.

488 require further scrutiny

The commission’s preliminary verification identified 488 electors requiring further scrutiny under the Absentee Shifted Death Duplicate and Others (ASDDO) category.

It recorded 291 deceased electors, 116 who had permanently shifted residences, 77 already enrolled elsewhere, two electors who could not be contacted during the visit, and two cases under other categories.

Highest in Hassan

Among the districts, Hassan reported the highest number of forms distributed at 1,46,025, followed by Davangere (1,07,802), Kalaburagi (79,375), Yadgir (78,280), Belagavi (75,052), and Tumakuru (66,304).

In the Greater Bengaluru Authority area, the North division distributed 23,221 forms, followed by Central (12,122) and South (10,620). Bengaluru Urban saw a distribution of 14,405 forms taking the total distribution in GBA to 60,368.

Electors can also submit their forms online or seek assistance through the ‘Book a Call with BLO’ feature on the ECINet application and the voters.eci.gov.in portal. A special drive to speed up distribution and digitisation of forms has also been scheduled for July 4 and 5.
