The organised crime wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested seven persons, including two rowdy-sheeters, for allegedly conspiring to murder a rival in an act of revenge. The police also seized 30 deadly weapons, including longs, machetes and daggers, along with a car and a two-wheeler used by the accused.

According to the police, the conspiracy stemmed from the murder of a rowdy-sheeter attached to the Ashok Nagar Police Station limits in February last year. Investigators said the victim’s brother, along with his associates, allegedly planned to eliminate the person accused of orchestrating the earlier murder as retaliation.

Based on credible intelligence, the CCB’s Organized Crime Wing tracked the suspects on June 26 while they were moving around in a car and on a motorcycle, allegedly armed with deadly weapons and waiting for an opportunity to execute the murder.

The CCB team intercepted and arrested all seven accused before they could carry out the attack.

A case has been registered at the CCB Police Station, and further investigation is under way. The police said efforts are on to trace and arrest the remaining absconding accused allegedly linked to the conspiracy.

Senior police officers commended the officers and staff of the CCB Organized Crime Wing, West Division, for successfully preventing the planned revenge killing through timely intervention.
