The Kannur Town police have registered a case against five people who reportedly trespassed into the District Police Headquarters camp premises, impersonated police officers, and organised a birthday party for a young woman, raising serious questions about security lapses.

The incident, which happened on September 16, 2025, went unnoticed despite the presence of armed guards and surfaced only after videos circulated on social media. According to the police, the woman’s friends lured her with a fake call claiming her vehicle was involved in a fatal accident and that she had to report to the Town station. An investigation is under way.
