Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi inaugurating a dedicated sports orthopaedic clinic at KIMS Hospitals, Seethammadhara, in Visakhapatnam on Friday.

A dedicated sports orthopaedic clinic was inaugurated at KIMS Hospitals, Seethammadhara, by Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bagchi said timely diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries were crucial to preventing long-term health complications. With increasing participation in sports and fitness activities in the city, specialised facilities offering comprehensive diagnosis and treatment under one roof would greatly benefit athletes as well as fitness enthusiasts, he said.

Consultant Sports Orthopaedic Surgeon and Arthroscopy Specialist Srinivas Gollangi said injuries involving the knees, shoulders, muscles and ligaments had become more common with the growing popularity of activities such as badminton, running, cycling, trekking and gym workouts. He said arthroscopic procedures enabled minimally invasive treatment, resulting in faster recovery and rehabilitation.

Regional CEO of KIMS Hospitals, Seethammadhara, Nagesh said the clinic would offer integrated sports injury care, including diagnosis, treatment, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, to meet the rising demand for specialised orthopaedic services.
