Two more women workers died following the ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing and export facility in Tiruvallur district, taking the death toll to 15 on Friday, according to a bulletin issued by the Health department. The deceased were identified as Priti Devi from Jharkhand and Budhubari Naik from Odisha.

While the bulletin has so far not disclosed the ages of the deceased, it reflected a change in the identity of one of the victims on Friday. The name of the 13th victim, which was earlier listed as Pinki Juanga, daughter of Uparkansa of Kudipasa in Odisha, was revised to Deepanjali Juanga of Kendujar district, Odisha. The reason for the change, however, could not be officially ascertained.

Currently, 40 persons were undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Two of them were on ventilator support, nine receiving nasal oxygen and 29 patients were stable. So far, 28 persons were discharged after treatment.

The mortal remains of 11 persons were airlifted to Odisha and two to Assam, while the mortal remains of two others will be transported in the due course of time once legal formalities were completed.

Of the 15 fatalities, three were reported at Vels Hospital, one at Venkateswara Hospital, six at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and five at Government Stanley Medical College Hospital.
