Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Harsha Priyamvada on Thursday encouraged aspirants of competitive examinations not to be discouraged by failure and to continue striving towards their goals.

She was speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory function of the K-SET and UGC-NET coaching camp organised by the Competitive Examination Training Centre of the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU).

Addressing students, Dr. Harsha Priyamvada said the path to success is never easy and advised aspirants to identify their career goals even before completing their degree courses. She urged candidates who may not succeed in their first attempt to remain determined and continue their preparation with greater focus.

Recalling her own journey, she said her parents, both doctors, had hoped she would pursue a medical career. However, her interest in competitive examinations led her to prepare for the UPSC examination.

Noting that competitive examinations can transform lives, she advised students to regularly read newspapers and standard reference books in addition to their academic texts.

She also urged students to broaden their knowledge beyond textbooks and devote time to books related to competitive examinations.

Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya, who released a study guide titled Mukta Bhandara during the programme, said such training camps act as an excellent platform for comprehensive learning across disciplines and help students develop their personality and confidence, and gain a deeper understanding of social issues.

Presiding over the event, KSOU Vice-Chancellor Sharanappa V. Halse advised students to set ambitious goals in life and pursue them with determination.

Registrar C.S. Anandkumar, Finance Officer Niranjan Raj, programme coordinator Jainahalli Satyanarayana Gowda and others were present.
