Houseflies and cockroaches in kitchens, mould growth on vegetables, foul-smelling drains, unlabelled food items, and the absence of mandatory records were among the food safety violations detected by the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) during inspections carried out at restaurants and a packaged drinking water unit in Hyderabad on Monday (June 22, 2026).

Kodi Kura Chitti Gare

At Kodi Kura Chitti Gare in Nallagandla, inspectors found raw chicken, desserts and mango pulp that had been received without proper labels. Water testing reports for water used in cooking were unavailable, while the chiller was overloaded, affecting proper cooling. Dust accumulation was noticed on the ceiling above the grinding area. Food waste had not been cleared from drain areas, and records relating to testing of packaging materials were not available. The kitchen ceiling was also found to be greasy. An improvement notice was issued directing the management to strengthen hygiene, storage and housekeeping practices.

Kanchi Cafe

At Kanchi Cafe in Manikonda, officials found open dustbins placed between the kitchen and store room, resulting in foul odour and attracting houseflies. Dust accumulation was observed on the store room ceiling and water stagnation near the grinding and vegetable-cutting areas. Mould growth was detected on cauliflower, while batter stored in refrigerators lacked proper labels. Houseflies and cockroaches were found in the kitchen and store room. Records pertaining to pest control, water quality testing and packaging material testing were not available. The eatery was served with an improvement notice for immediate rectification of the deficiencies.

Natural Aqua packaged drinking water unit

At the Natural Aqua packaged drinking water unit in Gajularamaram, the bottling unit lacked adequate barriers to prevent the entry of pests and dust, and records related to pest control, medical fitness and cleaning schedules were unavailable. Officials found that the unit had not obtained a no-objection certificate (NOC) for groundwater extraction and that the water analysis report lacked microbial analysis. The transportation vehicle did not possess an FSSAI licence, while NABL certification for packing materials was not produced. Drinking water samples were collected and sent for laboratory analysis.
