The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has appreciated the Andhra Pradesh government’s adoption of clean cooking solutions in more than 55,000 anganwadi centres on a saturation basis.
As a key implementation partner, the EESL has played a pivotal role in translating the national clean cooking agenda into on-ground action.
The partnership between the Women Development & Child Welfare Department and the EESL empowered the anganwadi centres with clean cooking technologies even before the ongoing West Asia conflict began affecting fuel supply chains in many countries, Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, EESL CEO, said in a press release.
He noted that induction-based cooking delivers nearly 35% cost savings, and it was about 30% more energy-efficient than the conventional LPG-based cooking. Besides, it significantly reduces dependence on LPG cylinders, brings down indoor air pollution, and, at the macro level, prevents nearly 28,327 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
Under Phase-I, induction cooktops and utensil kits were distributed to 11,400 anganwadi centres and, under Phase-II, around 20,000 anganwadi centres had already received the equipment, and the entire programme covering all 55,746 centres was scheduled for completion by the end of this month.
