The biennial and bye-election to the Local Authorities’ Constituencies of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, held on June 18, 2026, concluded with a total voter turnout of 99.02% across the 11 constituencies where polling took place. According to the official data released by the election authorities, 6,978 of the 7,047 registered electors exercised their franchise. The voting began at 8 A.M. and continued until 4 p.m. at all designated polling stations.
The highest turnout was recorded in Bhandara-cum-Gondia, where all 457 voters cast their ballots, achieving 100% polling. Nashik followed with 99.84%, while Parbhani-cum-Hingoli registered 99.79% and Nanded 99.78%. Sangli-cum-Satara, which was among the constituencies with a high polling percentage, recorded 99.89% with 894 of 895 voters participating. The lowest turnout among the constituencies was in Amaravati at 94.68%, where 427 out of 451 voters voted. Other constituencies such as Solapur (99.68%), Osmanabad-cum-Latur-cum-Beed (99.49%), Nagpur (98.44%), Aurangabad-cum-Jalna (98.90%), and Jalgaon (97.78%) also saw significant participation.
The overall 99.02% turnout reflects the engagement of local authority members, including municipal corporation councillors, municipal councilors, nagar panchayat members, district council members, and taluka chairpersons, who constitute the electorate for these seats. Prior to the polling day, six candidates from the Mahayuti alliance had already been declared elected unopposed in their respective constituencies. The counting of votes for the remaining seats, including the closely watched contests, is scheduled for June 22. The data from the election commission confirms that the polling process was completed without any major incident, barring one instance where a single voter did not turn up at the Vita polling station in Sangli district due to personal reasons, which accounted for the sole missing ballot in the Sangli-cum-Satara constituency.
