Seeking to put to rest speculative reports that his son Mithun was being promoted within the AIADMK, party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday (June 18, 2026) clarified that his son would not hold any position in the party.

“There is no truth in these reports. He will remain only a primary member of the party and will not occupy any post in the organisation,” he told journalists after the Governor’s address to the Assembly.

Mr. Palaniswami said reports about his son’s entry into politics were being spread deliberately. “Please do not spread such rumours,” he said.
