The Pithapuram Area Development Authority (PADA), Department of Fisheries and District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) are grooming nearly 80 women in ornamental fishing off Uppada coast in Kakinada District.

The women are being trained in the ornamental fishing as part of the Green Climate Fund – Enhancing Climate Resilience of India’s Coastal Communities (GCF-ECRICC) project.

The livelihood initiative will provide hands-on guidance on ornamental fish rearing practices, including species selection, breeding techniques, feed management, water quality maintenance, disease management, and marketing opportunities.

The women are encouraged to adopt scientific aquaculture practices and establish ornamental fisheries units under the GCF-ECRICC Project.
