The Tamil Nadu government, under Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, has decided to expand the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme to cover students in Classes VI to VIII, on the birth anniversary of late social reformer ‘Periyar’ E.V. Ramasamy on September 17 this year.

An official release issued on June 15 said the decision was taken after the Chief Minister reviewed the functioning of the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department. Minister K. Jegadeshwari, Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar, and senior officials were present at the meeting.
