Three persons, including a lottery shop employee, were injured after a KSRTC electric bus lost control and rammed into a lottery shop near the Pappanamcode KSRTC depot in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday (June 15, 2026).

The accident occurred around 6.30 a.m., shortly after the bus left the depot for regular service. The vehicle reportedly went out of control and veered across the road before crashing into the shop located opposite the depot.

According to the police, the bus first struck a scooter before ploughing into the lottery outlet. The impact left the front portion of the bus severely damaged.

The driver sustained serious injuries and had to be rescued by fire service personnel after cutting open parts of the bus cabin to extricate him. A woman conductor on board also suffered injuries, though her condition is not believed to be serious.

The lottery shop employee was also seriously injured in the collision.

The accident took place on the busy Thiruvananthapuram-Kanniyakumari route. Fortunately, there were no other vehicles on the road at the time.

Further details regarding the identify of those injured are awaited.
