Heavy rain disrupts Hyderabad airport operations; Indigo flight with Revanth Reddy on board among 9 diverted

Heavy rains that lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Friday evening and continued through the night disrupted flight operations at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), leading to the diversion of nine flights, including an IndiGo flight from Delhi carrying Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Flight 6E 717 was diverted to Bengaluru, where it landed at 10.28 p.m.

Hyderabad airport authorities confirmed that adverse weather conditions in the city led to the diversion of 9 flights between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

According to FlightRadar24 data, Bengaluru received the highest number of diversions. These included IndiGo flights from Delhi, Singapore and Mumbai, an Air India service from Mumbai, and Star Air flights from Nanded and Pune. Two IndiGo flights, operating from Navi Mumbai and Varanasi, were diverted to Chennai, while an IndiGo flight from Bengaluru was rerouted to Nagpur.

As rain and strong winds affected operations, IndiGo issued a travel advisory on social media platform X at 9.24 p.m., informing passengers that flight schedules to and from Hyderabad had been impacted.

“Due to adverse weather conditions in Hyderabad, flight operations are impacted. We understand that extended wait times, both on the ground and onboard, may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate your patience.
