Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) gathered in the national capital on Wednesday (June 10, 2026) to laud Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, after serving 4,399 days in office, became the country’s longest serving continuously elected Prime Minister.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu moved the “resolution of gratitude” in honour of Mr. Modi. Former Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president Nitish Kumar was conspicuous by his absence, though his son and Bihar Minister Nishant Kumar attended the meeting.

Moving the resolution, Mr. Naidu described Mr. Modi as the “right leader, at the right time, in the right place”. He said the 21st century belonged to Mr. Modi, who was first elected Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001.

“Sometimes, I introspect and ask myself — how is he able to consistently live up to the expectations of the people?” Mr. Naidu said, drawing laughter from Mr. Modi. Calling it a transformational moment for the country, Mr. Naidu said it marked the “beginning of a golden era”.

“Our faith in his leadership is complete, our commitment to the people is unwavering, and our resolve to build a Viksit Bharat by 2047 is unshakeable,” Mr. Naidu said.

The nearly 3,000-word resolution listed the achievements of the Modi government over the past 12 years, and said Mr. Modi’s leadership “epitomises delivery, accountability and integrity”, achieved through the “seamless integration of people-centric development, participative democracy and performance-oriented governance”.

Describing Mr. Modi as the first Prime Minister born after Independence and the first non-Congress Prime Minister to secure a third consecutive mandate, the resolution said he had forged a “unique bond” with the people of India.

The resolution also underlined the NDA’s political expansion over the past decade. It said the alliance currently governs States accounting for more than three-fourths of India’s population and territory. Positioning itself as pro-Dalit and pro-tribal, the resolution noted that the NDA is in power in seven of the 10 States with the highest Scheduled Caste populations, and eight of the 10 States with the highest Scheduled Tribe populations.

“The NDA is in power in almost all the States of the northeast, many of which have high tribal as well as Christian populations,” the resolution said.

The document also highlighted “15 trade deals” signed recently with “38 nations”, saying the world now sees India as a preferred investment destination. It further lauded the Modi government’s reforms, ranging from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to the new labour laws.

“It is under PM Modi’s leadership that India has emerged as a leader in the digital economy,” the resolution said. It also reiterated the government’s claim that over 25 crore Indians had risen out of multidimensional poverty during Mr. Modi’s tenure.

The resolution additionally praised the government’s handling of terrorism, citing measures including surgical strikes, air strikes, and Operation Sindoor.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio seconded the resolution. Other NDA leaders who spoke at the meeting included Hindustani Awam Morcha leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy, Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (LJP-RV) leader Chirag Paswan, Rashtriya Lok Dal  (RLD) leader Jayant Chaudhary, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
