The massive fire erupted at a small house in Ayesha Nagar Talai Colony, where a large quantity of firecrackers was allegedly being stored. Of the six persons rushed to Sawai Man Singh Government Hospital, one was brought in dead and others succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Another person died at a private hospital in the city. Doctors at SMS Hospital said the victims had suffered burns ranging from 75% to 100% and could not be saved. Three critically injured patients were shifted to the hospital’s Burn Intensive Care Unit.

Fire tenders, police teams and ambulances rushed to the spot upon receiving the information and carried out rescue and firefighting operations, while the local residents extended help in the attempts to rescue the people trapped inside the house and control the flames.

The house appeared to be functioning as a storage facility for firecrackers, situated adjacent to a manufacturing unit. Preliminary investigation suggested that highly inflammable material stored inside the premises might have triggered the explosion.
