A member of a local Self Help Group (SHG), Bandi Manemma from Kazipet in the district has been invited by the Freshwater Action Network South Asia (FANSA) to speak at the Grassroots Assembly 2026, to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, on June 12 and 13.

Ms. Manemma has been operating a septic tank cleaning unit successfully for some time. In recognition of her work, Hanumakonda District Collector Chahat Bajpai felicitated her at the Collectorate on Monday.

The event was attended by Dr. Raja Reddy, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, and Mandala Parashuramulu, Convener of the FANSA Telangana State chapter.

On the occasion, the Collector congratulated Ms. Manemma and encouraged her to share her experiences and community participation initiatives in septic tank desludging practices implemented in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits.

The South Asia Grassroots Assembly 2026, themed ‘Be Seen, Be Heard, Lead Change’, aims to highlight community-driven solutions in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector. The event seeks to strengthen collaboration among communities, governments, civil society organisations, development partners, researchers and policymakers working on issues related to water, sanitation, social inclusion and community rights.
