Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s action thriller Peddi recently hit worldwide theatres on June 4, 2026, and has been receiving criticism from a section of viewers over depiction of Janhvi Kapoor’s character Achiyyamma. Now, Janhvi Kapoor’s make-up artist Savleen Kaur Manchanda has supported her by sharing a post that claimed the actor had objected to certain shots in the film.
Earlier on Saturday, director Buchi Babu Sana apologised to fans for the feedback regarding Janhvi Kapoor’s scenes in Peddi. He stated that it was never their intention to objectify or disrespect any female character. He also noted that the team has decided to make changes to the concerned portions.
Janhvi Kapoor’s make-up artist shows support amid Peddi controversy
On Saturday, make-up artist Savleen Kaur Manchanda shared a post on her Instagram Stories that claimed Janhvi Kapoor had raised concerns about certain shots in Peddi during the post-production stage. The slide from the post shared by Savleen Kaur on Instagram read, “It is easy to blame an actress for the roles she takes, but the actual timeline tells a different story. Reports show that Janhvi Kapoor explicitly questioned these shots during post-production, a boundary that perfectly mirrors her recent public stance against the industry’s habit of oversexualizing women.”
Moreover, according to the post, Janhvi Kapoor objected to certain camera angles used in some scenes in the film Peddi. The post mentioned, “She drew a professional line, but the final edit kept the footage anyway. This isn’t a case of an actress failing to stand up for herself. It is a director choosing to ignore a boundary because he decided her consent mattered less than his box office numbers.”

Released on June 4, 2026, the Telugu sports drama Peddi has witnessed a strong at the box office despite the backlash. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has collected Rs 125.25 crore net in India and grossed over Rs 190 crore worldwide. It also features Boman Irani, Divyenndu Sharma and Shiva Rajkumar in key roles.
