The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has uncovered illegal sale of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) during a joint raid conducted with the Prohibition and Excise Department in Kukatpally area of Hyderabad on Friday (June 5, 2026).

According to the DCA, officials found that a firm operating under the name Synix Labs at NCS Complex in Prashanthi Nagar Industrial Estate, Kukatpally, was allegedly carrying out the sale of APIs without a valid drug licence, in violation of the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

During the inspection, DCA officials seized 170 grams of Zidovudine, an antiviral drug, from the premises. The stock was recovered from Gade Ramakrishna Reddy, proprietor of the firm. Officials also seized purchase and sale invoices related to the trading of APIs.

Samples of the seized material have been collected and sent for analysis. Further investigation is underway and action will be taken against those found violating the law, officials said. The DCA said that engaging in the sale of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients without a valid drug licence is an offence under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and is punishable with imprisonment of up to five years.
