The Telangana High Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a writ petition filed by 23 citizens, owning individual plots at Patelguda village of Ameenpur mandal of Sangareddy district, seeking a direction to Ameenpur Municipal Commissioner to permit them to build houses in their respective plots.
Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka of the HC vacation bench, who heard the plea, directed the official respondents to file counter affidavits while posting the matter to June 15 for next hearing. The petitioners contended that they purchased the plots from one Madhava Reddy in 2013 through registered sale deeds. They eventually got house building permissions from the then Ameenpur gram panchayat authorities, constructed houses and had been paying house taxes since then. In 2023, the Ameenpur municipal and revenue authorities issued notices to the house owners who moved the HC and secured directions to officials not to take any action without following due procedure of law.
On the morning of September 22 of 2024 (Sunday), the HYDRAA officials came to the site and demolished the houses even after the residents showed the HC directions to them. Eventually, the HC directed the survey department to conduct a survey of the land. The officials submitted a report stating that the land was a patta land. Based on this finding, the HC directed the authorities to consider applications of the petitioners for grant house building permissions in the same plots.
