A 60-year-old construction worker was killed after the scaffolding of a roof under construction collapsed on her in Cheyyar in Tiruvannamalai on Thursday. The deceased was identified as S. Kalpana, 60, a resident of Cheyyar. Initial inquiry revealed that the house owner, Khalis Khan, 58, a vegetable trader, had engaged a 10-member construction team to build a room on the first floor of his house. The police said that on Thursday, when the woman worker went to the building with raw materials, the scaffolding collapsed on her. Other workers rushed her to Government Taluk Hospital in Cheyyar where doctors declared her brought dead. A case was registered. A probe is under way.
