A state-of-the-art Google AI Lab was inaugurated at Vignan University on Wednesday (June 4, 2026), making it the first university in Andhra Pradesh to establish such a facility in collaboration with Google Cloud and Gemini Enterprise for Education.

Speaking at the inauguration, Navisha Prabhakar, Regional Head – Education, Google Cloud, described the lab as the beginning of a transformative technological journey that will prepare students, researchers and faculty members for the rapidly evolving AI-driven future.

AI is creating unprecedented opportunities across sectors such as healthcare, fintech, robotics, automation and engineering, she said and urged students to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

Ms. Prabhakar said Google would support the Vignan students through research initiatives, industry collaborations and problem-based learning projects, enabling them to gain practical experience and become globally competitive professionals.

B. Mallesu, CEO of Henotic Group, a Google partner organisation, said Vignan is the first university in Andhra Pradesh to establish a Google AI Lab. He announced that several Centres of Excellence in engineering, medicine, pharmacy and management would also be set up.

Students and faculty will gain access to Gemini Enterprise for Education, providing hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI and Agentic AI technologies.

Vignan Educational Institutions Chairman Lavu Rathaiah said the lab would function as a dynamic innovation centre rather than a symbolic facility.

University CEO Meghana Koorapati said the institution aims to transform its campus into a true AI hub and produce industry-ready talent equipped with advanced AI skills. The programme concluded with the felicitation of distinguished guests and academic leaders.
