While acknowledging that we live on a planet ravaged by climate change, wars, technological disruption and a crisis of loneliness amidst the white noise of the digital universe, it is equally imperative to recognise that art in its myriad forms is an essential element of our collective soul that brings balance to our civilisational prospects and helps us make sense of human life as it is. This is the multidimensional theme at the heart of a unique panel on art at The Hindu Huddle 2026, the ideas conclave of The Hindu group, to be in Bengaluru on Friday and Saturday (June 5 and 6).

Featuring artists Seema Kohli, Shilo Shiv Suleman, and art collector and founder of Bengaluru’s Museum of Art and Photography, Abhishek Poddar, and moderated by Narayan Lakshman, Opinion Editor of The Hindu and Curator of The Hindu Huddle, the session titled “Memories, medium or message? Art as a mirror to a world in transition” will explore the meanings and variegated mediums of art in all its forms, and how it might serve as a vehicle to preserve memories, identities and relationships while reimagining these through the lens of artists and art institutions.

In this context, Ms. Kohli brings to the conversation her distinctive artistic language that brings together mythology, memory, feminism, spirituality, and contemporary identity. Ms. Suleman offers perspectives blending technology, ritual, and social commentary, drawing upon a globally recognised artistic practice that challenges conventional boundaries between art, activism, and collective healing. Mr. Poddar’s perspective complements and extends the conversation along institutional dimensions, reflecting decades spent creating spaces where art, history, and contemporary dialogue can coexist and engage wider audiences.
