CPI Kerala State secretary Binoy Viswam has said there was no need for the party to step back from the claim of the post of Opposition Deputy Leader, asserting that it would be resolved through discussions within the Left Democratic Front (LDF).

Speaking in Thrissur on Tuesday morning, Ms. Viswam said both the CPI and the CPI(M) would address the matter through dialogue rather than confrontation. “We are confident that the issue can be resolved amicably through discussions,” he said.

He emphasised that both parties hold equal status within the LDF and share the political responsibility to resolve differences through constructive engagement.

Responding to a question on the delay in convening the legislature party meeting, reportedly linked to the Deputy Opposition Leader issue, Mr. Viswam said the CPI was not insisting on any delay.
