The Shivamogga District Horticultural Produce Growers’ Cooperative Marketing and Processing Society Ltd. (HOPCOMS) is organising a three-day mango and jackfruit mela in the city from June 5.

R. Vijay Kumar, president of the district HOPCOMS unit, announced this at a press conference in Shivamogga on Monday. He said several varieties of mango and jackfruit would be available for sale at the mela, to be held at the APMC premises in Vinoba Nagar.

The event has been organised to provide a platform for growers to sell their produce directly to consumers, as part of the Horticulture Department’s ‘Growers to Consumers’ programme. Growers from different parts of the State are expected to participate in the mela.

He appealed to the residents of the city to make use of the opportunity.
