Chairman of Chamarajanagar District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority H.V. Chandru said the death of a woman head of family receiving ₹2,000 per month under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme should be informed to local officials to facilitate transfer of the benefits to next eligible woman in the family.
“If there are cases where the woman head of a family receiving benefits under the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme has passed away, Anganwadi workers or local officials should be informed immediately”, said Mr. Chandru on Saturday (May 30, 2026) while chairing a district-level review meeting on the implementation of the Guarantee Schemes in Chamarajanagar.
This, he said, will help extend the benefit to another eligible woman in the family and ensure that the scheme continues to serve its intended purpose.

He directed officials to promptly process applications submitted by new beneficiaries under the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme and forward them to the next stage without delay so that eligible applicants can receive benefits quickly. Applicants should not be made to wait for long periods, and all eligible persons should be able to avail themselves of the scheme, he said.
Referring to the Shakti Scheme, Mr. Chandru said bus services should operate smoothly without causing inconvenience to passengers.
As schools will reopen from June 1, precautionary measures must be taken to ensure uninterrupted services for school and college students. Additional buses should be deployed during peak hours wherever necessary, he said.
Well-equipped buses should also be operated to tourist and pilgrimage destinations such as Male Mahadeshwara Hills and Biligiri Ranganatha Hills.
Regarding the Anna Bhagya Scheme, he instructed officials to ensure that server-related issues do not disrupt the distribution of ration supplies. If necessary, alternative arrangements should be made to distribute ration commodities within the stipulated period.
Any substandard food grains found in warehouses should be returned, and no lapses should be allowed in the distribution process, he said.
He also directed officials to ensure proper delivery of benefits under the Gruha Jyothi Scheme. As it is the monsoon season, damaged transformers should be repaired immediately to maintain an uninterrupted power supply.
He also called for wider publicity of the Yuva Nidhi Scheme that envisages payment of unemployment allowance to graduate and diploma holders while urging authorities to conduct continuous awareness programmes in educational institutions.
Among those present at the meeting were District Panchayat Chief Planning Officer Honnaraju, Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department Suresh, KSRTC Divisional Controller Nagaraju, Deputy Director of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Vasundhara Hegde, District Employment Officer Mohammed Akbar, and other officials.
