Ahead of the party’s Working Committee meeting to be held in Patna after decades, in-charge of the Congress Party in Bihar, Krishna Allavaru, on Monday (September 22, 2025) said that his party has been fighting the “second war of Independence” in Bihar and it was the reason why such a crucial meeting was to be held in Patna on September 24.
At the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, party leader and chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi along with all top leadership and Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled States would be present, he added.
“Congress party is fighting second war of Independence in Bihar and that is why party’s Working Committee is going to held in party’s Patna headquarters in the state. Sadaqat Ashram (Congress party’s Patna headquarters) happened to be the centre of fight against Britishers and it will again turn into centre of the second war of Independence”, Mr. Allavaru told media persons in Patna.
After decades, (since 1940, a Congress party leader and spokespersons in the state said), Congress party’s Working Committee is going to be held in Patna on September 24.
On seat-sharing
When asked about the finalisation of seat-sharing arrangement in mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) for the upcoming Assembly elections, Mr. Allavarusaid, “talks between alliance partners are going on positive note and we’ll soon come out with a viable formula. Once it is finalised, it will be made public. Our prime goal is to defeat the BJP and oust it along with allies from power in Bihar”, he said, adding, , “but seat sharing has not been done yet among NDA allies and they seem to be in complete disarray”.
On the name of ally Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the Leader of Opposition in State Assembly, declared as Chief Ministerial candidate of the grand alliance, the Congress leader said, “it will be declared at an appropriate time when all alliance partners will sit together and decide”.
Mr. Allavaru also added that party leader Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra which was held between August 17-September 1, crossing 1,300 kms of 24-districts in the State, now “has become the centre of national politics”.
“At the meeting. The party leaders would strategise for the upcoming Assembly elections which is crucial for the party as party leader Rahul Gandhi’s 14-days Voter Adhikar Yatra has energised party’s rank and file after a long time. Besides, national issues too would be discussed”, Mr. Allavaru said to presspersons while adding, “Bihar is in focus because of the upcoming assembly elections which will send a strong message to the country”.
“Nation’s politics is now centred around Bihar”, he asserted.
While launching a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Allavaru said, “people should understand why PM Modi is not interested in solving their problems even after 11 years in power at the Centre. He is like a student who does not believe in getting marks through studies or hard work but gets pass marks through cheating”.
“The vote chori (vote theft) has been caught and exposed as everyone in Bihar has raised slogans vote chor, gaddi chhodd (vote thief, leave the seat)”, he said.
