Some fans and followers of Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi performed a special puja at the Sri Lakshmi Devi Temple in Gokak on Friday, seeking that he be appointed as the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president.

They said that his appointment as head of the KPCC will mean that he will ultimately become the Chief Minister.

They also prayed that he be allowed to retain the Public Works portfolio and remain the district in-charge Minister.

Those present included leaders of the Bhovi, Gadi Waddar and Badi Waddar communities and others.

They also included Congress leader Vivek Jatti, Lakshman Gadivaddar, Hanamant Sagar, Pawan Mahalingapura, Bharamanna Gadivaddar, Shatteppa Gadivaddar, Yallappa Shilpi, Hanamanta Manovaddar, Raju Gadivaddar, Parashurama Badivaddar and others.
