Haryana DGP holds high-level review meeting on law and order

Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal on Friday (May 29, 2026) chaired a high-level review meeting in Panchkula to assess the State’s law-and-order situation, crime control measures and the progress of the government’s drug-free Haryana campaign.

Asserting that laxity in maintaining law and order at any level would not be tolerated, the DGP warned that officers whose performance and conduct fall below acceptable standards would face action in accordance with established rules and procedures, said an official statement.

The DGP also stated that the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) would be formally constituted in June and directed the Additional Director General of Police (CID) and all district police to complete assessments of requirements and available resources within the stipulated time frame, according to the statement.

Deliberations were also held on the drug-free campaign. Additional Director General of Police, Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau, Sanjay Kumar, said comprehensive public awareness campaigns would soon be launched across all districts through coordinated efforts involving the police, civil administration, and civil society.

Mr. Kumar said the surge in drug trafficking in neighbouring States has a direct and adverse impact on Haryana, making it imperative to adopt a dual strategy targeting both demand and supply. Officers were instructed to respond immediately upon receiving any intelligence inputs regarding sale or storage of drugs.

Mr. Kumar informed the meeting that over the past five years, action has been taken against 3,062 accused in cases involving commercial quantities of drugs, while 153 individuals have been detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act since 2023.
