
The bus plunged into a roadside pit around 2.30 a.m.

The State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus crew and 20 commuters were injured after the bus plunged into a pit on the Chennai – Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) at Jamin village near Ambur town in Tirupattur on Wednesday.
The police said that the bus with 46 commuters, including women and children, was on the way to Bengaluru when the bus driver G. Selva Murugan, 32, a native of Thoothukudi, suddenly lost control of the vehicle. The bus plunged into a roadside pit around 2.30 a.m. Along with the bus crew, commuters were injured in the incident.
The police said passersby and patrol police rescued injured commuters. They were admitted at Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur town for treatment. On being informed, Ambur Taluk police inspected the spot, and the damaged bus was towed.
