KHAMMAM

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has asked officials to work in tandem to ensure cent percent enrolment of students in all the State-run Gurukul institutions in the upcoming academic year.

“Every seat in Gurukul schools must be filled,” the Deputy CM said while addressing a review meeting with the district officials in Khammam on Wednesday.

He directed the officials to conduct a survey on residential schools where seats remain unfilled to identify the reasons, and resolve the issues immediately.

A district official should be appointed as in-charge for every social welfare residential educational institution to ensure regular inspection for effective functioning of the Gurukul schools, he said, while emphasising the need for increasing admissions in Gurukul institutions.

Necessary repair and infrastructure works in Gurukul schools should be carried out well in advance before the reopening of schools on June 12, he said.

He instructed the officials to prepare an action plan for installing solar panels in Gurukul institutions functioning in own buildings.

He further asked the officials to submit a comprehensive report on Gurukul institutions functioning in rented buildings and also speed up the construction of the five Young India Integrated Residential School buildings in the district.

Khammam Collector T.S. Divakara, Regional Coordinators of Gurukul institutions, officials of various government departments, among others, were present.
