Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will call on Prime Minister  Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) to discuss issues pertaining to the State.

According to sources, Mr. Vijay will travel to New Delhi on a chartered flight from Chennai at 10 a.m. He will meet Mr. Modi at 4.30 p.m. and is likely to submit a memorandum detailing important issues, including financial matters and Karnataka’s plan for a reservoir at Mekedatu.

The Chief Minister had already written to the Prime Minister about issues such as the Mekedatu project, uninterrupted fertilizer supply for the Kharif season, and removal of the 11% import duty on cotton to ensure the availability of raw material.

During his first visit to the national capital after assuming office, the Chief Minister is likely to meet some Union Ministers too. Some of Mr. Vijay’s Cabinet colleagues and senior officials of the Tamil Nadu government will accompany him.

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president is also likely to meet Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Sources said Mr. Vijay would return to Chennai on Thursday.
