Starting with Rajasthan on Tuesday (May 26, 2026), Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the country’s border areas over the next three weeks, a government official said.

During his visits to border outposts along Pakistan and Bangladesh borders, Mr. Shah is expected to take stock of the security situation with State government and Border Security Force (BSF) officials.

Mr. Shah arrived in Rajasthan’s Bikaner on Monday night. He will visit the BSF border outpost at Sanchu on Tuesday, where he will attend the “Prahari Sammelan” and virtually inaugurate barracks for women personnel. Later in the day, he will review the border security with senior BSF officers in Bikaner. The meeting will also include representatives from the Union Home Ministry and senior officials from the five districts that share a border with Pakistan, the official said.

Mr. Shah will travel to Bhuj in Gujarat on May 29, where he is scheduled to visit another BSF border outpost.

In June, the Minister is likely to visit border areas along the Bangladesh frontier, beginning with Tripura on June 5, followed by a visit to West Bengal around June 15, the official added.

On May 22, Mr. Shah said that a “Smart Border Concept” will be unveiled soon to make the Pakistan and Bangladesh borders “impregnable.” The project, equipped with drones, radars, cameras, and other technical resources, is expected to plug gaps in border security.

The Minister said that a high-powered demography mission would be announced soon to identify infiltration routes and provide the information to the BSF.
