A court in Ranga Reddy district has sentenced a 37-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a POCSO case registered by Shabad police of the Future City Police Commissionerate. The court also awarded compensation of ₹7 lakh to the victim.

The man, a labourer from Kurvaguda village in Shabad mandal, was found guilty under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

According to police, a complaint was received on October 12, 2024 alleging that the victim girl had been sexually assaulted multiple times by her father at their residence. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Shabad police station.

During the investigation, police collected oral, documentary and scientific evidence, examined witnesses and later filed a chargesheet before the court.

After trial, the Special Sessions Judge for POCSO cases at L.B. Nagar convicted the accused and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹2,500.
